Cottage people, looking after cottage people.
A Bruce Peninsula business, run by people who grew up here — built around one job: keeping your cottage safe while you're away.
Cottage Hero is a Bruce Peninsula business, run by people who grew up here. Born and raised on the Bruce, we know what a hard winter does to a cottage left empty for months — and we know the quiet worry of owning a place you can't get to once the snow flies. That's the whole reason Cottage Hero exists: so you can hand over the keys in the fall and stop wondering whether your cottage is alright.
Why we only look after cottages
Plenty of companies will service a house and a cottage the same way. We don't. Everything we do is built around seasonal properties — the kind that sit quiet and unwatched through a Bruce Peninsula winter. An empty cottage carries different risks than a lived-in home: a pipe that freezes with no one to notice, snow loading a roof week after week, an animal slipping in through a gap nobody spotted. Focusing on cottages, and only cottages, is what lets us do this work properly.
What we do
We handle the five things that protect an empty cottage through winter: closing and winterizing the plumbing in the fall, regular winter checkups on the schedule you set, clearing snow off roofs, decks, and porches before the weight does damage, trimming trees and shrubs so storms have less to grab, and sealing the place against wildlife. Book one, or hand us the whole season.
Trained, geared, and insured
Some of this work — clearing snow off a roof in January — is genuinely dangerous, and it's not a job for just anyone. Our technicians are certified and trained for it, and they work in proper fall-arrest gear. Cottage Hero is fully insured, so the risk on the higher-stakes jobs stays with us, not with you. We're glad to confirm our coverage before any work starts, and you'll always get a clear quote up front.
Where we work
We look after cottages across the Bruce Peninsula and the Grey-Bruce shore — South Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County, Saugeen Shores, and the Owen Sound area. Our phone is answered seven days a week through the winter, because a furnace doesn't fail on a schedule. And if wildlife has already moved into your cottage, our sister company, The Critter Guy, handles humane removal across the same area — then we seal the cottage up tight.
Hand us the keys. Forget the worry.
One call and your cottage is looked after all winter — closed right, checked on schedule, and every problem caught early and reported to you fast. Phone answered 7 days a week.
